First, yelp has the hours of operation wrong. They are not just open 7am to 10am. They are also open for dinner. And if you are seeing a show at PPAC, this is the place to go. We arrived at 5:30pm and they valet your car. We ordered off their theater menu, which for $32.95 for 3 courses and freer valet parking is a deal.  There were 5 of us in the party and we tried their specialty margaritas (we were seeing Escape to a Margaritaville). They were all delicious! The first course is an app.
You can pick from a few salads and a few other options. Get either the cheese curds or the tuna tower. You won't be sad! Then the next course is your entree. There's tenderloin, salmon, chicken or a seafood pasta dish. We got the tenderloin, chicken and seafood. The beef was perfect, the risotto with the chicken was amazing and the seafood was so good and yes you could tell it was fresh pasta. They offered to save the dessert until after the show so we came back and had the amazing cheesecake and tiramisu. Our cars were out front and ready to go. All the service throughout the night was attentive without being overbearing and the food was delicious. We'll definitely be back and would highly recommend it!

This place has so much potential! It's quite large and stepping into this restaurant from the hotel hallways makes you feel like you're in a completely different world. This restaurant boasts two large dining areas, bar seating, and outdoor seating, which is equipped with cute LED string-lights, giving off a very homey feeling. I would like to mention that it's in a very dark setting, which is great for evenings, but I feel a little light in the mornings would be nice. It would brighten the place up a bit.

I stayed at Hotel Providence for a business trip and arrived late on Monday evening, so I was unable to join my colleagues in dining in at Backstage upon arrival. However, I can't say I'm mad I missed dinner because I was told the food was unseasoned and underwhelming. One of my colleagues was so disappointed, the following days all she ordered was a parfait (because who can mess that up?) I said the same for the chicken Caesar salad she ordered Monday but apparently the chicken was so bland, it ruined her entire meal.

I ordered pancakes and sausages for breakfast on Wednesday morning. The pancakes were okay. On the dryer side. The sausage was also okay. Regular sausage, nothing special. They serve their syrup in these cute jars, similar to the preserve jars. I thought that was a nice touch.

There was only one server available during breakfast, which was fine as it was not busy. He was nice. I believe we may have been the only patrons in the restaurant. Needless to say after breakfast Wednesday morning, we did not go back. Luckily, Providence is a foodie city and there are plenty of options in the downtown area.

Eh- we wanted to eat here before a show at PPAC. I had won a $50 gift card from a Facebook contest. We entered at 430 and went to sit at the bar. We were told the kitchen didn't open until 5:00. 2 tables and 2 bar parties came from the tome we were there until we decided that it would most likely be an aggravating experience. First off they offer an extremely limited pre theatre menu- that's it- until curtain call. 3 courses. Where's the rest of the menu? This should be stated on their website because we would've never wasted our time in going there in the first place. We had two sangrias and asked for our check. The bartender was the bartender, host, dining room server and bar area server-not good. Figured we would make someone else's night by offering them our gift card-because we won't be back....

I had a chance to try Backstage Kitchen + Bar this past weekend when I stayed at Hotel Providence. We ordered breakfast to be delivered to the room and it was very affordable for room service. About $10-$14 for a decently sized breakfast, a little more expensive if you'd want for example- Eggs Benedict with sautéed shrimp, tomato, and asparagus.. My girlfriend ordered the $13 Hearty Breakfast with 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, and two buttermilk pancakes. I tried the $13 regular Eggs Benedict. Everything was good, I'd rate it a 3.5/5. I wouldn't say it was anything to write home about, but it was super convenient and everything tasted good. Would probably order again if I stayed at Hotel Providence.

Came in on a Tuesday night, two other parties already seated. We were greeted quickly and seated. It was around 90 degrees out and it was a bit warm/humid in the restaurant as well.

To start, we got the Asian Cauliflower. It was fried nicely and the sauce was tasty, but think a little less sauce would have made it better.

For dinner, I got the spinach salad and added grilled chicken. It was a decent size salad with a good portion of chicken and great flavor, I would recommend getting the dressing on the side though, I couldn't finish it because the greens were doused in the maple vinaigrette.
